facf's CHURCH HISTORY

Filipino American Christian Fellowship is a product of home Bible studies and prayer meeting in the early part of 1970s led by the late Dr. Rev. Max D. Atienza with his wife Sarah. The Fellowship was duly registered in Olympia as Filipino American Christian Fellowship in 1976. The late Dr. Rev Max Atienza served as its pioneering pastor and later as Pastor Emeritus.

The fellowship met regularly in a church facility in the University District area until 1980, and frequently moved around different venues for over a decade. In 1990, with a rejuvenated membership, the congregation took a step of faith and purchased a residential property on 4521 188th St SW in Lynnwood, WA for use in July 1994. Ben Naguit, on behalf of the Executive Board, submitted to the City of Lynnwood  a petition to allow use of the residential property for church functions.

On July 10, 1995 after a lengthy process, the Lynnwood City Council approved the petition to allow conditional use for the residential property. Development of the property began immediately. Improvements included a parking lot and landscaping and a few walls that came down to open up the house and make room for our Sunday worship service and conversion of a utility room and the garage into a Sunday School room. A dry run was held on August 4, 1996 and a formal inaugural worship service took place on August 11, 1996.

In January 2017, the Executive Board together with the entire congregation took another step of faith to build a brand new church in place of the converted facility. As we worked on building the church, we were blessed by the generosity of First Baptist Church of Mountlake Terrace, who opened their space to us, where we worshipped together until the pandemic hit.

After the pandemic, we went to YouTube Live Streaming for Sunday Service and Zoom meetings for Bible Study.  We ended up doing dry run of church services in July 2021, and had our first official church service in person on August 2021, which coincided with our 45th church anniversary. God's goodness, provision and faithfulness was praised that day.
